Staintune headers?

Saw these headers on Ebay:

It shows a kick on the right side header, unlike the stockers, which run straight back.
Anyone using the Staintune headers? I'm going to put a BMW oil cooler on the bike, and a bit of offset there would be nice.

I've got a Staintune exhaust system on my '82 LS, never noticed the right pipe was in farther than a  stock exhaust sytem, have to look at it this afternoon .

First thing with an OEM oil cooler, the thermostatic bypass valve that goes on in place of the oil filter cover, won't clear the right exhaust pipe on an OEM exhaust system .

It's also the most expensive part, if you get the OEM kit .

If the exhaust pipe is even closer on the Staintune pipe, than a stock system the cover that you can use from a later airhead bike, may not clear either .

Take a look at the pic, the right side has a kick in it that would HELP clear the stat.
I have the whole cooler system sitting here....

Looking at it again,it is farther out than a stock system .

Finally got a reply from Staintune. Wrong pic. It is a picture of the monoshock R65.
Ah well, guess I have to ravage and savage one to clear the oil cooler  ;-0

Unless you can source a different exhaust header pipe, this may be your quickest way to install the oil cooler .

Item number 3, replaces the thermostatic valve in the OEM kit .

I checked with one BMW dealer online and the price was around $86 .

I got mine in '97, for $27 !!!!!!!

It clears the pipe no problems .

I've had this on my '81 R65, for 16 years .

During cold weather, the cold thick oil prevents any meaningful amount of oil going through the cooler .

If no oil (cold or otherwise) went through the cooler,  wouldn't you be running the bike with no oil? With no stat, it seems the bike runs all the oil through the cooler.

Only a small portion of the oil goes through the cooler, not the entire output of the oil pump .

If you look at the banjo bolts and the holes in the fittings on the hoses, they aren't that large .

This is a standard oil cooler setup from the factory on the later airhead bikes .

I've got 65,000 miles on the bike with this installed, if it were to cause a problem with oil starvation, it should have showed up by now !!!!
