Maintenance Dvds?
« on: May 13, 2013, 06:26:51 AM »
Hi Gang...Seems like all I have done for the past 48 hours is overload on articles, pictures and video on everything from ignition coils to final drives to valve clearances and my head is spinning (but in a good way). I see references to dvds occasionally and I was wondering if there is any such thing for the r65. I am very much that visual learner type and something like this would help greatly. Even if I still have a long way to go with my vocabulary lessons, I feel this might be a great way to start.
Already this forum has provided me with a wealth of information just through reading as many threads as I can. Can't wait to be able to "pay it forward" someday.

Unlike the Oilheads and K-bikes I don't know that I've ever seen any kind of maintenance or repair DVD for Airheads.  Maybe Phorqs and Monte could produce something since they now have so much time on their hands!

I've heard of a guy on youtube with some colorful language who has some videos on airhead maintenance.  I can't recall his name, but hopefully someone whose referenced him will chime in.

If you haven't checked out www.bmwmotorcycletech.info you should.  Not a lot in the way of pictures, but full of useful information.  Run by the man, the myth, and the legend "Snowbum."

Also, there is a book (with pictures) called "Classic Boxer Charging (Version 2) by Rick Jones, owner and operator of Motorrad Elektrik  www.motoelekt.com  that explains the electrical side of things.

Thanks!! I have checked out Snowbums site and it certainly is chock full of info. I usually read it with an open tab to Google. And I will certainly look into the book you referenced.

Chris Harris is the guy on youtube.  He owns an independent bmw repair shop and posts quite a few videos on airheads of various models, as well as k bikes, etc.  Scroll throught his videos and grab some popcorn!

I've spent many an hour watching his videos while the wife watches Dallas  ;D Informative for a newbie like me, and very entertaining
