condensation on inside face of tachometer

Hi all, my newly resurrected R80 ST is plated and on the road now. she is working well except that when riding I am getting fogging on the interior of the tachometer glass. this seems to happen every time the bike is ridden.
                               Comments?   Solutions?                                      Best Regards John

The tachometer is not sealed, if you wash the bike, ride in rain, it pretty much fogs up, my '81 R65 has done it since I've had the bike, a little over 32 years now .

That's curious. My 1986 R65 doesn't suffer from this problem .

Used to happen to mine. If it stays, pull out a bulb and shoot some hot air in with either a heat gun or hair dryer.

Your gauges are different than 'normal' R65s. The monoshock bikes have a plastic gauge pod with two gauges inside - much different than the earlier bikes with the tach and speedo each in their own metal canister.

LED illumination light bulbs help with the fogging.

Thanks  to all for the responses. I will look into replacing the bulbs with LED's and see if that improves the situation ( only the Tachometer seems to have the fogging problem ).    Type of LED required for instuments ??

Do not install an LED bulb in the 'GEN', position, if you do, the alternator will not work .

The LED doesn't draw enough current to get the rotor energized enough for electricity to be generated .
