acing my oil filter(oil filter replacement

Hi - I'm replacing my oil filter (...570) folding type & want to make sure I have it right.It has the white outer o-ring, & 2 alum. flat rings (1 lg. & 1 sm.),the filter has rubber collars on both ends, & the cover gasket. Where do the alum. rings go? Gotta get this right! Thanks,  bill conquest

If the washer/ metal seals are aluminum, one would go under the drain plug. If one is about the same size as the white o-ring, it goes on first in the filter cavity then the white o-ring, but this washer is usually a thin steel material, not aluminum. About the only other place an aluminum washer could go, might be on the dipstick, but that's just a guess.

Filter 570 is correct for your cow without the oil cooler. Grab the paper cover gasket with your right hand, walk to your shop door, and fling it into the weeds just as far as you can. Remove old filter (doh) and insert new one making sure you have it centered on the tube waayy in the back there (it's a feel thing). You'll notice that the edges on the lip of the filter housing are sharp sharp sharp. this is where the large stainless washer goes to protect the large white rubber O ring which goes in next. Put the cover on and tighten evenly going around a couple of times. any leakage of the white rubber O ring will be evident. No leaks? Pat yerself on the back.
   It's also a good idea to ground out your plug wires, so the engine won't start, and run the starter a bit to circulate oil into the system before a regulation firing of the engine. the small washer I suspect is aluminum and meant for the drain plug.

Thanks alot, guys - I had guessed the small alu ring was the crush ring for the drain plug but now I know. Got it all together & it seems good.Getting a little paranoid about the $2000. o ring thing... thanks again, bill conquest
