Some nice videos - including R65 fork rebuild
« on: February 15, 2013, 07:36:15 PM »
I thought about posting this in Chit Chat but decided Technical was more appropriate.  In addition to the R65 stuff there are several pertinent airhead videos as well as K Bikes and some Oilheads.  I wish I had this for reference when I was rebuilding my forks a few years ago.  Thanks to Chris for taking the time to film, edit and post these videos.  If you find coarse language offensive steer clear  ;)

Good vid. Nothing like seeing it before doing it. Makes me want to take apart my forks.

I wonder why they had to force the top piston out ! Mine jumps at my face as soon as I remove the ring !
Same for the spring seized at the bottom ! This fork seems to have suffered some strange life ....
It is funny they also had to remove with a knife re remnants of the rubber bumper, my fork has dissolved it and it was removed bits by bits at every oil change ! Funny !

Chris Harris, who shoots & narrates a lot of Airhead videos, in his colorful and amusing narrative, is a real asset to our community.  I was in the throes of removing the flywheel on my R60/5 to R&R Main Seal & Oil Pump O ring (our R65's have these too) and learned a lot from watching his videos.  I emailed him to thank him for what he's doing.  He's a neat guy!  I think in the R65 fork episode, the bike had two different sized forks!

Hey guys. I haven't been on this site for quite a while, but was browsing through youtube and came across Chris Harris's videos and decided I should let people know about them. I did a search on the site first, figuring somebody probably has seen his videos already and sure enough. Just wanted to agree that his videos are pretty good. I'll be going back and watching them when I finally decide to lube my splines.
