Bar end mirrors question on LS

Hello to all,
 I plan to fit bar end mirrors on the original low style handle bars I just installed on my`83 LS.  But have run into a problem.
I fear I must be doing some thing stupid or obviously wrong ??  I`m new to BMWs so not sure what is normal .....but when I reinstalled the right side throttle control, it does not meet flush with the end of the handle bar. The tube that rotates the throttle  sticks out 20mm past the end of the handle bar. This makes it impossible to mount the bar end mirror as it bottoms against the throttle tube not the handle bar.
The bars are genuine OEM purchased from Max BMW. Throttle works and fits fine with out the mirror. I have the right side controls pushed in until the master cylinder is just a few mm from the fairing. Also the bars seem centered in the clamps.
I know a lot of folks have Bar ends on LS original bars.....Any insight would be apreciated.

I had the same problem when I first installed bar end mirrors. I ended up just loosening all the connections and moving things until they they worked. Being a few millimeters off of center is not even noticeable in handling, etc.

It is the same problem we all have with those bars - you can slide the bars over a little bit more to the right to get a bit more distance, but it still is a close squeeze.  If you have small hands, you could cut down the end of the throttle tube (and trim off your throttle grip to match) and that would help too.   But otherwise, one needs to try to modifiy/extend the reach of the expanding bolt/anchor for that right side mirror so it can extend further in, yet remain stiff/supportive where it passes through the end of the throttle tube, unsupported.

as the guys above said, there´s a bunch of us that had the same problem...
My solution (I tried to search the thread where we talked about it, but couldn´t find it) was to cut the rubber on the extreme of the drip to let the expanding bushing completely free... sometimes I have a little "loose" sensation on the grip, but it lets it come back freely...

Now, some other guy came up with a better solution, which was, expanding the lenght of the inner parts with a PVC farbicated bushing, so the expanding one goes a little more deeper into the grip tube...

I actually have Napoleon mirrors, which I like better that the OMS mirrors, the give a wider vision and vibrate a lot less...

I used a spacer, like a 22mm diameter washer about 10mm thick to keep the mirror from binding with the end of the throttle grip.

I used very sharp carving knife and remove approximately 1/2 of the outer lip on the grip.  I also did some minor tapering creating a bevel to reduce the problem, (friction) doing so allowed sufficient room to allow everything to work.

I too used BMW OEM low bars and Napoleon bars.

Wow...thanks for the info. I`ve run bar ends on other bikes, mostly vintage Hondas, and never ran into this problem. For now I have just the left side mounted and I kinda like the one mirror look. Works fine for the country roads but it may be a little dangerous in traffic !

I`ll play around and see if I can rig a way to make the right side work.
However I also think I`ll see if I can find a pair of long stem OEM style mirrors.....any leads would be apreciated.
