Like others, I have had problems and concerns with the R65 German-style fuses. Turn signal failures have been traced to corroded terminals on both the ceramic fuse ends and the fuse holder. Need to update.
I had been searching for an inline fuse holder that would: 1) Accept an automotive blade-style mini fuse and, 2) Have 16 AWG wire leads to match the R65s wiring. Most FLAPs offerings have been a full-sized 30amp fuse with, for my needs, a monster 12 gauge wire. Too much.
NAPA to the rescue. Part 784667 is a mini fuse holder with 16 AWG leads plus a good protective cap -on a leash- over the fuse.

Before yanking out the original fuse box, I marked position of leads and save a couple digital images. A digital camera is as important to me as is my torque wrench. Memory doesn't always serve.

I was able to maintain the R65s OEM female connectors and matched up new male spades. Crimp, solder and shrink tubing. Then a light smear of dielectric grease before installing.
Original plan was to fab or find a replacement fuse box for the new fuses. Each plan turned out to be like a piece of grizzle meat... the more I chewed on it, the bigger it got. Plan B was my best option.

The install utilized an aircraft Adel clamp, size DG4 and matching AN hardware... 'Cause I have a buncha the stuff. An existing vacant screw hole near the accessory plug provided a ready mount. Visible are both fuses and their protective covers which eliminated the need for a protective box.

One zip tie provides a bit of strain relief and helped tidy up the install. I am using ATM-7.5 amp fuses. I have less than ten bucks in the deal.
