Hole in rear of seat? Purpose?
« on: January 14, 2012, 06:34:36 PM »
I am currently recovering my R65 seat and am wondering what the manufactured hole in the rear of the cover and metal tube/slot in the seat is for?  I am not going to cover over it, just wondering what it's pupose is.

Thanks!

I'd bet $10 it is for a back rest.

It must have been modified. I've recovered a stock 79 seat and there is no hole in the cover.

There is a central slot at the very rear edge of the seat pan where it curves up at 45 Deg. but that's covered by the tail section and there is no corresponding hole in the foam at that point.

Backrest.

The square tube accepts a square bar with one or more drilled and tapped holes for an Allen screw. I have a Corbin on my Trophy 900 BBBS with the exact velcro-sealed flap and mounting structure.

When pretty wife rides with me, she insists on the small backrest and her gel pad. Other times, they stay in the shop. Kinda like cruisin' the drag on a Saturday night with an empty baby car seat in back. :-[

Hello, everyone!!

I´ve been interested on getting a back seat for my beemer.... I have the regular side racks for Krauser bags... I guess my back rack is the original stock one... anyone knows if its possible to get a back rest for it?

Take care and thanks in advance!!!

If it is the factory back rack, there is no back rest available that I know of.
The best solution is a Reynolds rack (much heavier but more practical) as Reynolds also made a back rest for their back rack.
Reynolds is NLA, so your only hope is eBay or the like.
