Is there anything i can do to my 81 R65 that has not been in use since 03? Nothing has been done to it since then after my dad and I rode in from Rockford IL to the West Virginia MOA rally. My dad got a new bike and hasn't touched this one since. i just put some gas in it and thats about it. it starts great but i figure that there's probably something that needs replacing or changed before i start riding it anywhere other than outside the neighborhood. thanx

I would at least change all the oils (engine, gearbox, driveshaft, final drive) and the oil filter. Replace or at least clean the air filter.
Oil breaks down over time, even if not used.

Obviously your battery is still good if it started.
Depending on how fresh the tires were when you last rode it, you might want to look at them. Rubber gets hard with age and if much more than 5 years you might want to consider changing. (You will find a manufacturing date on the sidewall. ( format year and week of the year - 0713 i.e. 13th week of 2007)

Check your valve clearances and timing, so you at least know the engine will be happy.

Ride it. You might get some oil leaks if any seals have hardened up, but you won't know this until you have ridden it a bit.
