Any suggestions on the brand of replacement brake pads and shoes I should look at for the R65LS?

EBC has replacement brake pads and shoes that are quite popular .

Just a note for the rear brake shoes, the LS has different shoes than a standard R65, the brake drum diameter is a larger diameter than a standard r65.

Standard R65 shoes cannot be made to work, don't let anyone tell you otherwise .

Bob, thanks.  Generally speaking, how many miles can one expect to get on front pads, and rear shoes?  I know there is many variables, but in general?

thanks

I got 45-50,000 miles on  front OEM pads, can't say how long the EBC's will last, I suspect not as long, as they are a 'softer' compound .

I'm VERY pleased with Spiegler Floating rotor conversions on my R65LS and the Carbone Lorraine brake pads also purchased from them.

Front braking is very strong.

How many miles on the conversion? Any scoring on the discs? How are they wearing?

Only about 800 miles.  Brakes like a dream!  No pulsing - very strong.

I'm very confident and sold on the guys at Spiegler.  The owner used to work on the Airbus Jets and knows all about braking systems - he claims the Airlines and Trains all use Carbone Lorraine brake pads. He also races on the asphalt racetracks -   Anyway, brakes is a subjective subject but the  to me, the key things to know about brakes are: 1) your life can depend on them 2) its important to regularly flush fluids at least every other season or if you see a big color change) 3) and good fresh brakes can help you stop safe and quick.  The floating rotors are great!!!
