'79 R65 Emblem
« on: April 08, 2011, 09:07:10 AM »
Hi folks.

I'm back from my wonderful 3 month winter vacation in Arizona.  Had lots of rides into the mountains in Southern California from Yuma.  There are some great riding areas there.

So now I'm back to my R65 restoration project and have finally received some parts from my dealer.  I have repainted the bike and now I want to install the new R65 emblems on the side panels.  I have some pics of where the old emblems were but I'm not sure that is the original/correct location on the panel.  Does anyone have a picture of the correct location for these stick on pieces?

OK ignore my question.  I found some pics on the net that have the emblems in the same location that they where before I repainted the bike.

Then i awoke from this wonderful dream..........
We had a thread on this not long back, seems bikes were delivered without the decals/rondals? on and dealers stuck them where they felt like it so there is no "right" or "wrong" place.I replaced mine after a paint job here is where i put mine.

Factory photos in the German book "Die Motorrader von BMW" clearly show the side panel stickers were placed along the lower edge of the panels. But it doesn't seem to matter too much!
