On a 79-80 the choke cables look like normal control cables but they are not, the inner cable is not braided stuff but stiff wire, like heavy baling wire. They can stick in the outer casing and so leave the choke on, you get terrible misfires once the engine warms up and you may not notice the slack in the control due to the stiff wire. I know...I know, bitter experience, what a load of trouble for a silly reason, should have seen it, etc. etc.....
