Bill, the last time I talked with Michelin was about a year ago and they said there were no plans to kill the Macadam.  They did mention another tire (didn't pay any attention as I didn't use it) would have certain sizes discontinued.

I thiink there are some 4.00H18 still available.  I was just hoping for the newer Pilot Activ..

(sigh)

Seems like there are only a couple of sizes of the original Macadam available now.  Why is Michelin doing this?  Where is my cattle prod? [smiley=beehive.gif]

I'm sure that it is market driven - if alot of old bike riders would spring for them, they'd make more.  I think the number of folks who aren't willing to spend higher prices for tires on older machines has been growing, sadly.   These bikes really ride well with modern tires, but I see many folks getting the cheapest Chen Shins, etc.  they can - my skin is more precious to me than for me to put those on any of my bikes, IMHO.   I'd give up drinking beer if necessary to raise the extra $$...

The 100/90V18 BT45F on the front works just fine.  No need to replace what doesn't need to be replaced.  The stop gap Dunlop Elite II on the back is wearing like iron but is making me nervous.  I hadn't intended to have it on this long.

This site appears to offer the appropriate sizes in Pilot Activ, but it's not been confirmed by anyone I know and I have not called them.   I'll be ordering from them this winter for my R65.

... and if those in fact aren't available then I'll try the spitfires based on the enthusiasm here.

prices seem friendly.
