Hello everyone, its me again.
Thanks for all the replies to my previous post! I have some other questions as well, as I am starting to restaurate my R65, hope you won't mind.
So, my machine is a 1979 BMW R65 in beige color. It's in a good condition but the tank and the tailpiece need to be repainted because they are quiet rusty. Now, normally, I'd say that lets preserve the bike in its very original look but unfortunately I highly dislike this beige paint scheme, it looks like grandfather's clock. I've seen some R65s in the past in alpine white color - my god they are just spectacular! So therefore, I'd like to repaint it in alpine white. (I also will repaint the frame-end, mudguards ect. with original black paint)
I gadered some information on the internet about paint codes and stuff and found this very handy site:
http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/paintcodes/whites.htmAccording to this site, the only available white color for my bike is the so called "alpine white" with paint code 146. It was easy and peachy so far and now the not so easy part...Scheme Codes. I understand, that every different BMW model has its very own color scheme code, which can be found under the seat somewhere. Could anybody tell me please, what is this code for an Alpine White 1978-81 R65? I've been looking for it for weeks, even written letters to different bmw dealers but they were useless.
Then again, any help would be highly appreciated!
(I Will upload some photos about my machine later on today)
