Dawg gets a nose job...
« on: July 26, 2010, 07:58:05 PM »
Got my little JC whip-me fairing over the weekend so I got out and brewed up some mounting brackets for it 'cause the included "universal" ones are butt-fugly.

I haven't gotten around to re-mounting the turn signals yet and have to decide whether to re-mount the stockers in a different location or get some "surface mount" jobbers like I put in the R65RS.

I used 1/2" x 1/8" 303 stainless for the mounting straps.  The upper mounts were made out of a 6" cut while the bottoms aer 4".  The ends were then drilled or slotted and the pieces were clamped in the vise and "persuaded" into shape with the assistance of a 2.5 lb hammer.

All-in-all a much more sanitary mounting arrangement and it is totally hidden.

That's pretty neat work for a hammer brake.  :-)

I love the fairing, good job.

Make sure the signal supports are solid, I had to weld mine over as the spot weld holding the short stubs let go.

I think this bike is aquiring an attitude!

I like your handiwork, Justin.  I also like the two tone paint on your bike - I'm sure she's a runner!  Nice work!

Thanks, Ken, it runs pretty well.

Monte - They are scaled down.  You might want to pry loose a couple orf Lincolns and buy something better than a 640x480 VGA monitor.   [smiley=ROTFLMAO.gif]

Sorry, couldn't help it.  Monte makes it so easy sometimes...  ::)

Nice.  Similar size and shape to my Manxman fairing.  When used with a tank bag the aerodramatics are improved quite a bit.

Mine's at 1280 x 1024 and they're bigger than the screen, so that I have to scroll around to see all of them.  Or "open in new window" which for some reason re-sizes them to fit.

Bwahahahaha! "orf Lincolns"? Ain't that what Bernie Madoff's clients ended up with?

I keep forgetting there are smaller monitors than a 22" widescreen.  My apologies to the luddites... [smiley=beatnik.gif]

That's interesting, Ed, the picture size is smaller than your screen.  The largest is 1162 x 778.

On a brighter note my Vapor shipped today and it should tuck nicely up under the new nose...
