will it burn holes in my pistons?.

G'day all.
Ok, my R65ls has GT40 coils, 8mm silicone leads and I have a set of Bosch YTTRIUM super plus spark plugs (WR 7 DC).
Question, will they burn holes in the pistons?, the R stands for resistor type and the 7 is the heat range.
I have had folks tell me it's bad to go one up, is this a fact?.
I have ran them for awhile and they do the job better than the old NGK plugs.

Well I did some testing you may be interested in.
The R on the plug stands for risister type, so on my multi meter the plug reads 6.5 ohms resistance, a bosch W 7 dc non resistor type I have reads 0.29 ohms. The leads I have are 5k-ohms, when i put the multi on the lead with the WR 7 dc conected to it the reading is 10 ohms!.
With the W 7 dc and the same test I get 5 ohms.
So based on this it would be a must to run non-resistor type leads with the WR 7 dc, thus you will end up with only 5 ohms too the plug spark not Ten.
Now to fined some non-resistor type leads :-/ , I will run the non-resistor type plugs till then.

I used resistor type plugs for a few years, didn't seem to cause any problems .

I got a 'smokin' deal on Bosch Platinum plugs about 15 years ago, got 8 for $9US .

These plugs didn't last very long, with the wasted spark ignition system our bikes have .

The resistor in the leads, is the cap that goes onto the spark plug, not the lead itself .

Do  a search locally NGK is the most common available, not very costly just for the caps themselves .

A resistor plug would normally be around  5000 - 7000 ohms. Is it possible you have a misread the range on your multimeter.

Your right in that you don't want too much resistance in the HT lead/cap/plug combination as this will loose some spark energy. Electronic ignition needs around 5000 Ohms miniumum. You may be OK with more than 5000 Ohms but it's going to weaken the spark a little.

Yep sorry, thats what the K stands for in 5K Ohms = 5ooo ohms.
just got lazy typing it in all the time  :P.
