Original Owners Manual
« on: April 28, 2007, 12:01:50 PM »
I'm looking for an original owners manual for my 81 R65 but can't seem to find anything. Can anyone direct me to a source? Also trying to find color schemes for that year. My is Green/Blue...I'm thinking of a color change this winter to black. Any help for this newbie is appreciated. [smiley=1drink.gif]

Howdy. Some color scheme (and lots more) info can be found here, http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/information.htm , although the '81 R65 seems to be lacking. Your '81 blue/green must be like this, http://www.geocities.com/eljefespeaks/8_27_06b.jpg , which is a bike belonging to another member, Clutch: see the "Looking for another color" thread,  also here in Technical. Lots of ideas for a change, too.

Owner's Manuals pop up on Ebay, http://www.ibmwr.org/market/ , etc, and we'll help keep our eyes out for one for you.
Again, welcome to the club!

Gone scootin', trying out the new bike computer... ;)

I got my owner's manual from my local dealer.  I don't know how it differs from a 26 year old one except it's not old.  :-)  Make sure they don't sell you one that covers R100s and the other bikes, as that one is for the later R65s that share a frame with the rest of the line.  The correct book for you only covers R65s and R45s.  They're a bit over 20 bucks if I remember right.

Good luck,
Ed

As far as your paint is concerned, since you are changing the color just paint it whatever color you like.  If it's not going to be a trailer queen to be dragged to concours type shows it really doesn't matter...
