Master Cylinder overhaul kit
« on: April 27, 2010, 11:24:21 PM »
Hello everyone,

I am doing up a 1983 r65 which had a shot master cylinder piston. On the bottom of the master cylinder the number is the number 15. As a result I ordered a 15 mm master cylinder overhaul kit from motobins. The overhaul kit arrived today and doesn't fit (the diameter is to large). Where have i gone wrong?

Best that I can tell, that's the same part number I ordered from them last September .

Have to wait until I get home from work, to check my receipt from Motobins .

How far in does the piston go ?

Is the rubber 'cup' seal the problem, or is the metal part of the piston causing the problem ?

There is a large flat metal  "fender" type washer in the kit which does NOT fit inside the bore with the piston assembly, if that is what you mean.  If it was stamped "15" on the bottom, it should be a 15mm m/c assembly.  That is what I have on my 82 R65LS.

If you give them your frame number they should be able to identify the correct one.Is it a single or twin disc?.
What part of the world are you in Freddie?
