Diode wiring
« on: March 19, 2010, 11:00:00 PM »
I recently replaced my timing chain and related parts.

Everything went well EXCEPT I have one mystery wire.

In the picture it's black w/ a silver A written on it.

I failed to list it in my diagram

I believe it plugs into the back of the diode board next to the blue wire.

Can someone let me know if I have the wires plugged correctly.

Thanks

Uh - that picture is not working.  (WAY too big and blurry.)

Click on my 'WWW' at the bottom of my post.  That will take you to my R65 Photo album.

Go to the "Rebuild" gallery (I think).  That should have my most recent electrical shots.

If not that gallery, it would be the "Electrical" back on the main R65 page.

Sorry - I am at work and can't get to them due to firewall.  :'(

Rob,

I resized the photo to a smaller size.

Thanks for the link.

After looking at your photos I think the "mystery" wire connects to my starter.

I took the top cover off w/ the timing chain cover and had them repainted.

This makes sense as to why I didn't list it on my diagram.

I'll check it tomorrow morning.

The thick wire that is red, but has a black sheath goes from the port side of the diode board to the starter.

The blue wire (thinner than the "red" wire) [should] come out of the harness; the one that has the rubber for going through the timing case.  One end plugs into the back of the diode board, next to the three-phase connectors, and the other end connects to the voltage regulator.
