That squeal! My ears! My ears!!

Well, since I swapped out the rotor and pads on Britta, she stops sure and quick like she hasn't since I've owned her.  I've also noticed a squeal when I apply the front brake that is getting louder and louder, and more annoying as well.  

I thought I read something a couple of years back about how to get rid of brake squeal, but damned if I can remember it now.  Anyone out there know what to do?  :-?

Are you using the EBC's.  Try a little of the High temp break grease from Autozone in a packet.  Use a bit between the caliper piston and the back of the pad.  Use sparingly.  I have "heard" this works.  I just ignore it and am too lazy to do this.  Perhaps somebody else will chime in with a better advise.

Brake squeal is actually the pads vibrating.  Often, pads come with a little packet of "goo" to smear on the back of 'em, but I have also heard of people applying a very thin layer of silicone, and even using cheapo rattle-can enamel paint sprayed on the back.  I use something like "Disk Brake Quiet"  (I think that's right) by Permatex.  I have never had to use it on a motorcycle but that was the only stuff I found that would keep new pads from squealing on our '80 BMW 320i years ago...  A couple heavy coats, let dry, install/reinstall pads, and no squeal!

I have also used the Permatex product in the past with good results.   The goo/grease type
stuff that doesn't form a rubber like coating will sooner or later wear off and you'll be back to
the squealing again.

I put a thin smear or copper slip on the back of the pads and it seems to perform just as well as the brand name stuff at halting the squeals.

That Permatex goo goes on all my disc brake pads and seems to werk. I've also heard of the grease, copper shims, brake pad backing material (plastic like stuff), chamfering the leading edge of the pads but yes it is caused by pad vibration.
