R65 - street tracker seat
« on: February 27, 2010, 04:21:08 AM »
Today I read a tread about Motu`s trip in january.
I really liked his R65 street tracker. Can Motu or somebody else tell me about the street tracker seat? How it is mounted to the rear subframe and where to by it?
Thanks

I had the seat custom made by Euroglass in Christchurch. The streettracker seats are all too narrow for the BMW,and I was going to have to modify one to fit.But I knew Dave had an XR750 seat mold, and asked if he could make one to my measurements. He could do better than that,he had a BMW there, and would make it to fit.I expected some finishing work, but it came painted, pinstriped and BMW logoed, and I just had to drop it on.

It has a tube at the front, and this slots up into the tank tube, the rear mounts to the subframe by 2 bolts. There are rubber buffers to take the weight onto the frame rails.I can still use the  tool tray, but it has been modified a little.

I love it,it cleans up the bike, and defines my intentions. It allows me to move around on the bike more - up front for corners, and back with feet on pillion pegs for longer straights.I can swap over to the stock seat and guard in 30 mins,if I want to carry a pillion,or use a seat pack.

Thanks Motu
I too have found street tracker seats for sale on web-shops.
They are as you say too narrow for R65, they are usually made for Yamaha sr500, XS650 or older HD Sportsters.
May be I have to by one for Yamaha and modify it.
I will continue my search.

Am I the only one that wants to see a picture of Motu's bike, but is getting tired of searching for it?

I got my bars from Omar, but it was just as the world finances crashed and bumped the price of a seat way up for me.I asked about a more suitable seat for a BMW,and he said he had a lot of stuff lying around and might find something closer. But at that time it was cheaper to get a seat custom made here fully finished than to get a basic seat from the US.
