Ok, GREAT NEWS!  

I did manage to get it all back together -- apparently correctly! -- and she fired up!  Woohoo!  I even went for a very short ride.

On top of that, my headlight arrived by UPS today!  I might have a ridable bike here in a week or so.

I really have to thank all you folks for leading me through this, I'm sure I'd never have made it without your help!

Well, I have a really small anvil and a tack hammer that I think I bought long ago trying to shape a small bracket.  I also have a drift that was about the right size.  I could get the top side of the rivet onto the flat surface of the anvil and then carefully whacked away at the bottom side of the rivet as it stuck through the plate with the drift.  

It was a bit fussy at first.   :o

hi guys i have installed a new sensor in my bean can , installed back in the bike but now she will start but as soon as i blip the throttle she just cuts out,any suggestions appreciated,thanks guy

It could be various things. first we need to narrow it down a bit. Connect a timing light to see what is happening to the spark.

Is spark occuring when you blip the throttle?

What about if you ease the throttle on?

As A-Pete says, if you have not done so, check ignition timing.

Did the engine "cut out" before you reworked the can? How long was the bike down for repairs? Have you changed, replaced or altered anything other than the bean can?
