Tank on FleaBay
« on: February 13, 2010, 02:07:14 PM »
Ok guys,

I'm thinking about getting a R100R tank off Fleabay.  This should give me about 6.3 gallons on the main/reserve.  Coupled with my 4 gallon aux fuel cell about 10 gallons before reserve.  I figure that should be enough for trips to the great white north.    :D

What do you think?

I have heard that the G/S tanks fit our bikes.
I would get one of those monsters.  Are they 10 gal by themselves?

A Paris Dakar Tank is 35 liters but all I ever see is stickers from Israel.  If I saw one I bet it would be pricey..

(9.246 gallons)   :o

From what I have hear - the G/S, (and hopefully the GS), used the same "bail with a rubber" that wrapped around the backbone tube, as opposed to the metal strap with two holes, to accept rubber cushioned screws with big plastic nuts to hold the rear in place.

The front is the same on all the post '70, I believe.

Length might throw you a curve-ball.  The R65 tank is longer, I believe.

So that means that flash tank only holds 2 more litres than the standard (22 litre) R65 tank.

Better to wait for a Paris - Dakar tank then?

I don't think the Paris Dakar would be available at a resonable price.  PLus I think the R100R tank is actually about 3-4 liters more as the lower right hand side of the R65 tank is unuasable fuel (no tap).

My biggest concern is the wider R100R tank fitting with the Lufty Fairing.
