R65 tank supports
« on: February 02, 2010, 11:31:59 AM »
Hi,

I've bought two used tank supports to fit under my R65 tank (to replace the singular, centrally mounted on that was clearly home-made), but I'm not sure where they should fit, and which way up they go.

Does anyone have a simple solution - possibly including pictures?

Daniel,

Are these tank supports L shaped bits rubber ?  If so they are glued to the inside rear edges of the tank to cushion the tank where it slides over the frame tubes. The front tank support is a cylindrical piece of rubber which locates in a U shaped bracket.

This is the RHS rear rubber. Ignore the extra bit of lighter grey foam
I have in place.

Thanks Barry - that's exactly what I meant. The pads seem to be tapered though - so one arm of the "L" is thicker than the other and I'm still not clear whether the "thick" arm faces upwards, or sideways... I've looked underneath the tank too, but that doesn't seem to offer any clues.

If they are used I would guess thick side faces up because the frame tubes compress the sides over time.

Yes, the thick part goes on top.

Check for these on the floor every time you remove your tank.  DAMHIK

I never realised they were supposed to be glued to the tank.
Mine have been cable tied to the frame for about 23 years.
Doesn't seem to matter, at least I haven't lost them.
