Carb Parts

I ordered some parts from Bing Agency a few days ago.  I received a few gaskets, O rings diaphragms and floats....I was shocked at how little I got for my $169.

Next time I'll look around for some alternative sources for carb parts.

Monte are the Motobins diaphragms as good as the Bing diaphragms?

There have been some postings here about members that purchased the non-OEM diaphragms from Motobins, and had problems with the bike running correctly .

The non-OEM parts are made from a thicker material , and here's one instance that heavier duty parts were not better .

I purchased all Bing rebuild components from Motobins except for the diaphragms. Those I purchased as BMW OEM parts from Chicago BMW. The ChiTown BMW Bing bits were heavier than the diaphragms I removed from the 32mm carbs. Took some fettling with the tune but they perform quite well now.

I just finished doing a carb rebuild (gaskets, O-rings, needles and jets, float needles and floats) that included the Motobins hydrin diaphragms.  They are much thicker than the old ones that I removed, but I attributed that to 28 years of wear and tear.

Today is the first day I’ve had the bike on the road since the rebuild and the middle part of the power band where the diaphragms and slides come into play definitely seems sluggish to come on, but is fine once the throttle is about half way open.  This may be due to the fact that the carbs are only rough-tuned and the top of the idle circuit is not providing a smooth transition into that middle band.  I have not moved my needle setting up from the 3rd to the 4th position like Lou and Monte have.  I’m thinking I’ll order a pair of Bing diaphragms and install those for comparison sake and keep the Motobins ones for spares.  I’ll let y’all know what I find.

Now I’m just glad to have the bike back together and on the road again!   ;D

Motobins stock the origonal bings or a generic one.....do yourself a favour stick with the bing ones

http://www.motobins.co.uk/displayfinal.php?s=0&function=show&subs=084&title=DIAPHRAGMS+%26+GASKETS&model=&bike=991
32 and 40 mm
the photo demonstrates the differance in "stiffness" bing origonals are much softer ive had no problems since i fitted them to mine after poncing about for weeks with the generic one....live and learn
The bing will not support a quarter
Complete rebuild kits jets ect from both motobins and motorworks
