Enduralast "Whirr"

I want to throw out a question to those of you that have an Enduralast Charging system. I installed the Enduralast on my R100/7 last weekend, and even though it's not a 650 installation, this is pretty much a "general" question. Installation went very well, but I recognize a slight "whirring" noise that is synchronized with engine rpm. I've checked rubbing between the rotor and stator...nothing that I can see. I've also checked rub marks on the inside of the front cover...nothing. The sound is still there when removing the front cover. It's nothing real loud, just noticeable. I'm going to remove the rotor this evening and run the engine to see if the sound goes away.  John Rayski says it might be the production of the magnetic field. Those of you with the system installed - do you notice the same sound? Is this normal? Any comments or opininions?
This sound was not there before the installation and there's no contact or friction-points involved in the new equipment.

Is there a cooling fan attached to the rotor ?

Not familiar with the system, but I do think Suecanada, has one installed on her LS .

Hopefully she'll comment on it .

Yes, the rotor is finned.

I'd take a guess, and say that's a possible cause of the noise .

Rand Rassmisson has a nice article in the most recent issue of the Airmail, talking about his installation and first test ride with his Enduralast.  I tried to get him to join our site a couple of years ago when I gave him my old R65 seat but if he's joined I haven't seen him post.  I like his writing.  He had another essay published in the Aerostitch catalog some time back.  

He's happy with the alternator upgrade, to summarize.

I haven't received the latest issue - I'll keep my eyes open for it. I'm very excited about this installation, I've wanted this conversion for years. If you've ever had to replace a diode board in the middle of Kansas on the road, you'll understand. Not a hit on Kansas, it's just as bad doing the diode board replacement in a controlled environment like your own shop. No more flickering charge light at low rpm, voltage regulator, brushes, or diode board with inaccessible mounts! Not to mention the increased output of the Enduralast.
