New R90s pattern faring for my R100

Been messing again, this time with the R100.

Fitted the R90S style nose fairing to my R100.

Hand painted with a brush again - no expense dared!

No instruments yet.  Have not made up my mind yet so just put some blanks in the holes.

The blanks spots on the instrument cluster, look like a perfect place for an oil pressure indicator, and a voltmeter .

How about oil temp and vacuum (from one side or the other) if you dont want to drain any power.

Perhaps I should put in two vacuum guages and balance my carbs whilst on the run......should be interesting trying to explain that to the plod. :-?

I am a bit too tight for the normal clocks and voltmeter.  My brother sugested I put two photo's of my kids there, to keep me 'cool' 8-) next time the red mist descends

I would prefer a mach meter, and a radar display or gunsight, we can only dream.

I wish I could dig the bike out the garage and have a ride, but that is a week or so away yet. More snow this weekend, we are promised

Your fairing looks great, Steve.  To me that S fairing is the best looking one you can hang on an Airhead.  i am embarrassed to say that I still have not installed Trolle's old S fairing from the days when the now black Wla8la2 RS was an white S.   :-[That will get done when the weather breaks and we have some temps more conducive to wrenching.  (I haven't been able to talk my wife into bringing the bike into the house or the winter to tinker with.)  I promise a pic when it's done.

Steve, someday I'd love to hear you (or anybody else for that matter)compare the R100 with the R65.  I've been thinking seriously about getting another bike and doubling the size of the fleet.  Maybe something that revs a ittle lower at highway speeds - an R80, 90 or 100.  I was sorely tempted by an 82 R100RS that was available locally here a few weeks ago, but the timing was just not right for a number of reasons. For now, I'm still just thinkin, lookin and dreamin.

My two cents worth:
R65 great for surface streets and anything 70 mph or under.
Over 70 mph its revved pretty high, just annoying.
My R100 sits at 3500 rpm going 65 mph and only 4000 at 80 mph.
R100 is pleasure on the highway and R65 pleasure on the streets.

The main difference for me is the handling, the R100 just feels ponderous and slow after the R65.  Not that my R65 is especially standard.  

As far as speed is concerned, the R100 is not that much faster, surprisingly, perhaps the different gearing closes the gap at normal road speeds.  But it does have longer legs for the longer run.

I am fighting the urge to modify the R100, but I must keep it reasonably standard as there is no point in having two Cafe Racers.

I would suggest a BMEP gauge and Voltmeter.  

I currently have a BMW clock (which keeps perfect time) and a voltmeter.
