R65LS-RT?
« on: March 30, 2007, 01:17:23 PM »
Just ran across this, 190098057656, on ebay, seems to be a Full fairing for the R65. I hadn't known this company existed, yet lo and behold they have one mounted on an LS, with the overall appearance turning into something of an RT look. If the price stays reasonable, I'll be sorely tempted, as the new ones look a bit pricey. . . http://www.pichler.de/images/exskat10.jpg. Anyone had any experience with these things before?

wow!  That really changes the appearance of the bike!  Looks like it'll protect those thighs from the wind pretty well too, which is the second-worst place that gets cold for me (hands being the worst).  Good luck if you bid.  I guess the drawback is that you won't have as good of access to the engine if you should need to work on it.

They have been around for years. I first came across them back in 85 when I bought my 75 R90/6. My local dealer could at that time get that fairing. But I went with the BMW RS fairing he let me get everything I needed a little above cost. I still want to get that fairing to go on my other R65 at some point. The only way I have found to get it is direct for the Manufacture. With overseas shipping it would be over $1000.00

Yeah, Pichler's been around for quite a while, making very nice (and very expensive) bodywork for BMWs and others.
Not to be nosy, but is anyone here bidding on this one yet?
I'd be real interested myself, if it doesn't get up to a zillion bucks, but don't want to step on any toes. :-?

Kind of a modern "RS" look with the rectangular headlight and all.  Looks nice, but I doubt it will keep the hands any warmer - pretty much need an RT or Windjammer to do that.  All of the mounting brackets and stuff are still available (last I checked) to mount an RT fairing as there were some factory cop bikes made like that.  The RT and RS fairings are fairly aerodynamic so might not be as noticeable as a Windjammer...

Wow, $227.  I thought it would have brought more.

I still wonder about the mounting frame...

For that price I wouldn't even have worried about mounting hardware, I think it was a steal!

If I didn't have to worry about rent, I'd have gone for it. . .can't be That hard to figure out mounting hardware. I was more concerned about the apparent lack of a headlight, those don't seem to come cheap, even on ebay. Either way, someone got a good deal on it.
