Best source for s/s brake hose

I've been sent incorrect parts by "knowledgeable" BMW vendor experts. Might y'all direct me to a good source for a replacement stainless front brake hose?   Gracias! Monte

Scooter has the lower Euro bars. Brake hose does not have banjo fittings at either end as I was told I did have by the above unmentionable, less than "knowledgeable" vendor.

You might want to check this site out. They have a group buy going on for Galfer brake products. I bought the set for my LS through them and it was about 2/3 of the best price I could find any place else.

Monte, I bought stainless lines from a local vendor a couple of years ago.  I have double front disks so I needed 3 lines.  I gave him my old lines as he was going to re-use the fittings.  Unfortunately he made them too long and it was too late to return them by the time I found out.  So I'm thinking I might replace them with some other new ones.  

Unfortunately I don't know which style of bars I have on my bike.  You say you have the low style Euro bars.  Do you have a picture of them that you could post?

Just a word of caution, I'm assuming you have the dual ATE caliper set-up .

The LS version, has a three line front brake system, but the line that goes from the master cylinder to the splitter fitting, has 'banjo' fittings at each end, and it doesn't look like that line will work on a standard R65, as it looks like the rubber 'dash cover' is in the way .

Bob, yes it is a dual ATE set-up.  But the bike is a standard R65 not an LS I believe.  It is a '79 and originally was sold in Germany.  Either the original owner ordered it with optional dual caliper set up or that's the way they came equipped in Germany or someone added the dual set-up some time later.

Anyway the setup now looks like this:

From the master cylinder I have a stainless braided cable which is connected to a steel pipe which is connected to the T.  The T has the brake light switch and two outlets...one to each caliper.  These outlets are both stainless braided hoses.  All the fittings are compression fittings.  There is no banjo set up.  Is looks like a standard set up according to the parts diagram when you include the retrofit kit for the dual calipers.

I'll be careful if I order new lines.

Another option is to re-use the compression fittings and cut the stainless hose so that it fits better.  I know the shop that originally did the stainless setup re-used the fittings.  All I would need is a crimping tool and some compression rings.  Does anyone know if such tools are available?

You've got a different line set-up than I do, I have a line with threaded fittings at both ends .

One goes to the master cylinder, the other end goes to a 'splitter', a brass, or bronze looking piece of metal just behind the headlight shell .
 
It has two other outlets, that the threaded fittings for each individual line that goes to the rigid lines at the caliper thread into .

From the sounds it, you've got quite a unique front brake system .

Both the 81 and 83 R65s are single disc with Brembo calipers. I have the correct BMW part number for a rubber replacement as that's what's on the 81 right now and giving good performance. I did not pay near the prices y'all are tossing out. Yikes   Monte

I replaced all the front lines on my 81 R65 naked with dual ATE' calipers. The fit was perfect with no problems. I went through Ted Porter - that gives me a sense of confidence when it comes to fitment and correct application.  http://www.beemershop.com/
I think Ted has them made from a local supplier. It was a 3-piece set with all the correct fittings. Here's the information...

They look like US style bars or maybe even an aftermarket type that are a little higher than standard.

One of the guy's with US bars will know better.

Those look like the standard US bars, same as mine. Not a great shot of the bars but a look at the new stainless braided upper delivery line.

I have started using a local fabricator for replacement lines. Good quality, Fast service and no mistakes as long as they have a sample for comparison. Also poco dinero! they'll make up just about anything you can imagine.
