Karcoma Fuel Taps
« on: October 31, 2009, 08:37:30 PM »
Started working with the fuel tank on the '84 LS, and it looks like the fuel tap (Karcoma) could use seal replacements .

Looking at the part, and it doesn't look like it is rebuild-able .

Anybody had one disassembled lately ?

I've thought about it on the grounds that once every 31 years old would not be too often. Got as far as removing the plastic cover and then could not see how it came apart so I let it be while it was working ok.

Snowbum has a few words to say on the topic http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/fuelfltrs&petcocks.htm

My '81 has the Germa tap, and it's easily rebuildable, just looked like you would destroy the Karcoma type by trying to disassemble it . .
