Is this due to bad Flasher relay?
« on: October 27, 2009, 04:33:14 PM »
Hello All;
The turn signals on my bike have been acting lately.  They start and stop working at will.  When they are NOT working...and I push and hold the high beam switchdown they will work as long as the high beam switch is held down.
I checked the flasher relay and cleaned all the connections but no luck so far.  Could it be the turn signal switch itself?
Also I cant find the turn signal buzzer (if there was one the bike originally came with) that is operated by the switch in the clutch lever.  Can any one can post a picture of it (what it looks like and where exactly it sits).  This board has been a great source of help and I know someone will nail it right away.

There are no electrical connections between the headlight switch, and the turn directional switch .

When you hold the head light switch into the flash position, you may be pushing a broken part together in the turn directional switch, allowing it to operate .

I'm pretty sure the '81-on bikes did not have the buzzer.

As for your other problem, just as a start, I would look for a broken ground wire, somewhere.  The main grounds are brown.  I think secondary grounds are brown with a colored stripe on them.

How does the T.S. switch feel when you are working it?  It should be smooth and tight.

Thanks Bob and Rob .  I will look at the switch tonight.  As far as the toggle action of the switch goes, it is very nice and smooth to operate...but I will clean it up again and see how it goes.  Will keep u guys posted. Thanks for the help.

All of the ground, or earthing wires are solid brown, if they have a spiral band around them, it's for another electrical circuit .

At least for the twin shock model bikes .
