According to the RealOEM.com parts site, the battery covers are R65 specific .

'82 R65 LS
'84 R65 LS
'87 Moto Guzzi V65 Lario
'02 R1150R
Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

If you're shopping for side panels, eBay will be your best resource. Although some dealers list them in their catalogs, when you call to order it's, "Well, these are on back order from das Fatherland for a few years."

I'bre bought new sidecovers in the past year or two - but I Can't recall if I bought them from Capitalcycle or from MaxBMW - I think it was Capital.

Anyhow, they come in primer gray only and I didn't have to wait long.

And when you get them don't forget to cable-tie them on, they do tend to fly off otherwise as it sounds like you may have already discovered.
