Headlight broken
« on: August 21, 2009, 02:01:55 PM »
Today I had a stone shoot up from a car and smash my headlight. Any suggestions ........... I'm thinking of doing a custom job with a pair of driving (spot) lights?

At the moment its all held in place with duct tape .... I love that stuff!!

All ideas and 'bright' ideas are welcome!

Couple inches higher and that rock could have done some real damage... to you. :o

Is the headlight shell damaged? Or the trim ring -which I'll be first to offer to buy from you if it's a "cherry" R65er?

Twin lights would be pretty cool with a tight install. Any thoughts on upgrading the alternator/stator to handle a possibly greater electrical load? Could be an awesome at night... long straightaway...at speed...

Don't know if this would be something you would want to pursue or not, but go to RealOEM.com parts site, get into the lighting chapter, which is chapter 63, under auxiliary lights, fog lights, they show a mount, they call it a 'bow' that you can attach two headlights to , it looks like it bolts to the sheet metal mount for the headlight .

Don't think the part is available anymore, but just to give you an idea what can be done .

Okay .... I'm going to make a simple mounting bar, fit two round lights and use one as dip beam and the other as main.

Turns out that my shattered light is some funny sealed beam unit anyway.
