This morning began well and got even better.  [smiley=thumbup.gif]

Got in line early; me with all the other geezers at the local Social Security office. Chatted with a counselor then signed up to begin getting a monthly check from Uncle Sugar.

I figure -and my financial advisor agrees- that the way the government is buying automobile manufacturers, printing bogus money and truly crushing my grandchildren's financial futures, it was time to get whatever I could as soon as I could. OK, rant over.

In the building's foyer, there were tables full of free stuff. Well, not actually free as we'uns in the USofA have funded the materials with our SS taxes. Anyway...

Check the mouse pad. Same dense foam material as I had to remove from the seat pan (seat cover replacement) and tail piece (paint job) on the 1983 R65. I grabbed a few and drove straight home to the shop.

Make a quick pattern, trim the material as required and use some silicone adhesive to bond the material in place. Personally, I spread glue on the printed side and enjoyed rubbing their nose in it.

The foam closes off the two cubby bins and keeps dust and stuff outta there.

Y'all go get a few. Did I mention we've already paid for 'em. They'd make a good pad under a battery, too. What else...?

I'm surprised you didn't stop off at the funeral home on your way back to the house for the free coffee and donuts.  Do you get a free burial plot and white granite headstone when you die like Justin and I do?

You do realize some jobsworth mignt notice a few missing mouse mats, launch an enquirery do a survey, poll the local electrate as to the best dertterant for mouse abuse (probebly the death penalty) all costing the tax payers millions instead of writing off a few 10c mats

Hey, the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, across Eagle Mountain Lake from the former NAS Dallas, is worth a visit if you've never been there. I have family there.

And the donuts were flippin' gone, Mike. I kid you not! Either the home's not buying as many or the crowds are getting bigger. I need to start getting down there earlier or I'm gonna miss my breakfast.

Here's the two new seat gaskets with material courtesy of the Social Security Administration.

A dense foam mouse pad, some Mk1-Mod1 eyeball engineering and silicone adhesive closes off the underseat cubbies. Hmmm... needs some paint around that seat hinge.     Monte

Funeral director where I grew up used to give out free fans at services. (The cardboard kind, with a handle at one end.) I wondered if he was commenting on the departed's possible destination.  :-/

Yikes, I've been meaning to ask you about your avatar: Are you a Pink Floyd fan? (If there's any member of the group who doesn't know, the avatar is the jacket photo of the Atom Heart Mother album, circa 1969. I didn't know anyone else still cared.)

Amazing how a photo can make you see things that you just overlook in real life.  Monte your seat really does look "convienient and secure"
And Altrtter, good call there on the Atom Heart Mother cow![smiley=Norton.gif]  I definitely am a Pink Floyd fan, great music for putting miles under the wheels, but mostly, that's one of my favorite pictures of a cow.  I suppose one day I'll replace her with a picture of my bike, once I get Trolle's S fairing and Bengt_Phorg's handlebars installed.  One of These Days... 8-)

I'm glad you clarified that. Because of the perspective distortion due to the wide-angle lens, I considered that the message might have been that the cow is a metaphor for an R65 rider—all a$$ and no brain!   Glad to know otherwise.

Ummagumma was the first album i bought at the tender age of 15 all my friends were into the Beatles ,Elvis the Who and thought i was "weird" there you go some things are meant to be ,Who would have thought i would be rebuilding bikes and reliving my youth 40 years later.I play the acoustic version of Comfortably Numb its a brilliant riff I'm going to start a new thread on music tastes on the rants section as it  doesn't belong here.
