I haven't done much to this for a while so this weekend I finally got motivated enough to go out on the porch and stare at it for a while.

Them damn motorcycle maintenance elves hadn't done a freakin' thing they were supposed to. [smiley=furious3.gif] I'm gonna have to execute the little bastards [smiley=shoot.gif] and do it myself, I suppose...
I went inside and reluctantly ordered a 12 mm master cylinder rebuild kit. I realize the 12 mm master is incorrect for dual discs but I have also read that some folks prefer the longer lever travel, mechanical advantage, and finer control offered bu the smaller piston. We'll see what happens.
I went back out and stared at it some more and noticed that those cheapie Nelson-Rigg "economy" covers last for about 3 months as the seams are starting to split.

I guess you really DO get what you pay for, all $16 of it!!!

I also stared at the rear axle for a good while hoping that I could use "mental persuasion" to make the rust disappear - big waste of effort and just left me with a headache. Since my TK skills are suspect I got on-line and ordered a chunk of T304 to whittle me an axle out of. <flagrant commercial mode on> I ordered enough to do a couple of extras so as soon as I figure out how to make them I'll post my results and if anybody is interested in purchasing one just yell.<flagrant commercial mode off>
The carbs that came with bike were in pieces so I originally cleaned the bits up and put them back together with new O-rings, gaskets, and diaphragms. The bike started (sorta) and ran (barely)

so I put my spare pair of late-model R100 carbs on and it ran like a dream.

I went out to the shop and found that them lazy elves hadn't touched the carbs either!

I've had it with 'em, they're toast... [smiley=flamethrowingsmiley.gif] I went up to the neighborhood auto parts store and got a Berrymans carb dip bucket and if I ever get motivated I'll tear 'em back down and let 'em soak for a few days...

Sooo, that's my "lack of progress" report...
