Side Stand Options?

Ed,  Thanks for the pictures, they're going to help everyone understand what the Surefoot option looks like.  I'm heading this way.  Just need to get organized.

Now, if someone can post picture of the Brown, we'd all be able compare/contrast.

Justin - in that photograph it seems like you still have the OEM sidestand on that RT as well??   Are you one of those "belt and suspenders" kind of guys?

Gosh! Doesn't everyone enjoy pulling the freakin' exhaust system just to add a shim washer to the sidestand pivot? Or remove it?   Monte

I ordered a Surefoot side stand from Motobins today.  I'll pick it up while I am in the UK late next week.  When I get back home, I'll take and share pictures pre, during and post installation.  Thanks.  Mark

To get a alternative side stand here in South africa will cost me about US $250

I can order one from England, not sure what make, but it costs 53 pounds ....... then shipping is a whopping 25 pounds.

Just finished installing new SureFoot. This newbie would have appreciated a time-saving hint that the mount was a through bolt and not a stud. Thanks!

Dori & Others, I picked up my Surefoot while in the UK this past weekend.  It looks OK (see pictures) but as Dori says, no instructions.  If anyone has any tips, I'd like to have them.  I plan to tackle the job this weekend.  Mark

If it's like the Brown it will attach via the rear "motor mount" stud.  The little loop looking gizmo on the end, I'm guessing, goes around the frame.  I kind of like that a bit better then the Brown where you relocate the exhaust pipe hanger to the front of the stand bracket...

I think I'd like to combine the two, the basic Brown sidestand with the "loop gizmo" from the SureFoot.

Mine collapsed and caused the bike to fall over in the garage.

Against a load of push bikes.  I have several dents in my tank now. - £200-300 for a respray.

When it starts to lean over a bit far, get shot of it before it lets you down.  The jaws of the stand broke, rather that the tang on the frame.

I have a surefoot now.  Excellent.

My factory stand poked out too far when up, and dragged on left hand corners.  I hate when that happens.  The Surefoot does not (well, not yet).

I think this is one product that probably doesn't need instructions, if you go out and hold it up to the bike.  Put the bike on the center stand, get your existing side stand out and out of the way.  Remove the nut and washer on the left side of the rear motor mount, offer up the Surefoot stand on that nut with the hook cupping your frame, and replace the nut and washer.  The hard part is removing the stock stand; like Monte says you probably will have to remove the exhaust for that.
