It's an aftermark sidestand that doesn't make you feel like the bike it fixin' to tip over when deployed!  Here is one in the deployed position on my '95 RT:

I have one on my wife's R65 as well which is shown in the retracted position:

They seem a bit pricey but are very sturdy and give me a lot of peace of mind.

You should be ashamed of yourself Justin, that motor is too clean ;)

So how much are these bad boys then and who sells them?

I'd love to have one myself, but have a bit of a mental block regarding the price of these things, which usually floats around $125-150; kinda steep for a 12" steel bar :o
To my knowledge they're NLA, so we're buying old stock, I think.
But, there's a used one on ebay, or was recently, for $109 + s&h.

Guess I'll keep using my chrome Reynolds ride-off whenever possible, and the stock sidestand only when absolutely necessary...

Love both of mine, and both came with cool swag in the box from Boxerworks.com. Don't remember how much I paid, but get this:  the R100 stand is a tad longer and allows my fully loaded R65 to NOT lean over so far as to scare me. Really easy to install, too. You can leave the old sidestand on if you want.

But the best thing, imnsho, is to practice your mounting and dismounting skilz WITHOUT stand assistance. On a bad day my inseam is 29.5" and it would be downright cryin shame if I were stuck somewhere unable to get on or off the bike in uneven terrain cuz I couldn't balance the bike on one leg. (BTDT, got the scrape.)

I have to admit I am somewhat vain when it comes to my "mounting and dismounting skilz WITHOUT stand assistance".  I guess we all gotta be good at something...

Just grab that front brake and keep the center of gravity toward you, and rest it on your hip if you have to.  It won't go anywhere.

What is this cool cool swag of which you speak?  :-?  All I got was a cheap-a$$ ink pen...   >:(

I got Barbara's stand from them a couple years ago when they were having a special, seems I remember it being $115.   I ordered the R65 specific stand and it doesn't lean the bike over anywhere near as much as the stocker does.  I didn't even think of trying the regular R100 stand.  On the other hand, I ordered the one for the '95 RT from somebody on IBMWR who was selling them in $105 - $110 range because Nathan and crew had went up to between $130 - $140.

As far as I know, "Brown Motor Works" is still in business and still making them.

Yeah, I just looked over the Boxerworks site to see if they were still offering them.  I didn't see anything.

Out of curiosity I just checked Bob's, and they sell the R65-specific Brown's side stands for $159.39, and A&S has them for $159.95.
So, guess they're still available, just a tad pricey...

But it is most likely a non-wear item, so that initial investment will shrink every year.

I just checked my records and I bought mine last August from a dude, named Richard Spehar, from the IBMWR Marketplace for $105 shipped.  His e-mail address is/was:

beemerrich_49503@hotmail.com

I remember that he had several for sale but I don't know if this was a one-time deal or what...

Hmmmm, may have to check that one out. The one on eBay @$105 is a "Browns-type..." and follows the usual "fits everything but R65 and R80ST..." drill.

But,Larry has a matching pair of ATE calipers for R65s  for the dual-disc crowd. Link below.

and the mystery black LS/not LS is up to @2750 with 2+ days left to go: damn!!

ps: Justin, the ebay Browns stand is your guy beemerrich_49503

No ...its a rider - there is the tell-tail coating of fuel varnish just behind the Bing Emblem on the carb!!!
