Bing Jet Needle help

Well, I've started on the Bing rebuild (64/32/325 - 326) and am installing new Jet Needles, clips and retainers but I don't know if I should press the clip and retainer ALL the way to the bottom of the shaft because they seem to have settled nicely into a groove about 1/4" up from the bottom.
Does anyone know definitively where they should go?

Best I can remember, they go all the way to the bottom.

If by chance you haven't removed the other needle from the slide, measure how much needle sticks out, and mark the new needle accordingly.

Thanks, I called Bing and they confirmed they go all the way down.
Strange why there is a groove in the shaft that catches the retainer...

Do you have the 'hair pin' type clips that go on the needle itself ?

After installing mine about 2 years ago, I found out there is an 'upgrade' to this, looks like a rubber plug that the needle goes through, from what I've been told, it makes reassembly a lot quicker .

If by hair pin you mean shaped like packman.
The retainer looks kind of like a sprocket.

What a coincidence. I found pieces of a rubber plug on top of one of my Bings' needle clip during the recent overhauls. Tossed the trash.

Hey, at least you had something there. Both of my Bings had no retainer clips... Sometimes corrosion is your friend as it was holding the needle clips in place.

When I removed the needles for the first time, I found the left carb needle was set at position number 2 from the factory,it's supposed to be at the number 3 position, explained why the carbs were always a battle to get synchronized .
