1982 R65LS Rear Rack
« on: July 04, 2026, 01:37:02 PM »
Hello,

I just purchased this R65LS and am really disliking the rear rack. To me it looks like something a farmer fab-ed up from scrap steel, and the seat tail is all marked up from previous owners forgetting to flip it up before attempting to open the seat.

I'm tempted to just cut it off and retain the portion that holds the racks for the Krauser bags. Does anyone know if it's of any value? I could of course remove it and fab up a new mount for the bags...

That is  a Reynolds rack. It is supposed to lift back to be able to open the seat.

Reynolds! Thank you.

It does fold back to clear the seat. I hate to hack up vintage components but I think it has to go...

Well I couldn't bring myself to cut it up. I took it off and will fabricate a replacement.

Does anyone want it? I'm happy to give it away if you pay shipping. It's got some surface rust, but it works and could be refreshed with a paint job.
