Omega Charging System
« on: February 26, 2009, 07:51:49 PM »
I don't know if anbody is considering replacing the charging system on their R65.

I just visited the Motorrad Elektrik website, and the Omega system is now upgraded to 450 watts of output.

I have the old 400 watt Omega unit and like it.......... feel sure the new one is even better. My poor old sidecar rig has more lights than a Christmas tree hung on it........and had to have more power. It was gasping for electrical breath and not getting much. I was thinking about putting some LED brake light flashers on the sidecar. But my daughter said the bike was beginning to look like red neck engineering.....so still thinking about that.

The other alternator upgrade is the EnDuraLast unit. I am quite happy with it on my R65 - Night time runs with two 55W aux. lights, heated jacket and gloves are no longer a problem.  the system also replaces the diode board with a combined unit mounted away from the engine heat. YMMV but I'm satisfied.
