R65LS Fairing fitment questions
« on: June 11, 2024, 12:59:04 PM »
Hi All

So after 2 years of searching I’ve finally found an affordable fairing to bring my LS back to its standard gorgeousness. But I’ve no idea at all how to fit it all together. It seems as though at some point in the past someone removed the LS loveliness and replaced it with a standard R65 squishy dial pad and hard plastic backing to this surrounding the speedo and tacho dials. I assume this comes off to fit the hard black plastic surround and key arrangement and DIGITAL CLOCK (!!) how swish !! But I can’t see how to connect the coloured fairing piece to the bike. I assume the indicator ears go through the holes (I’m missing one of the grommets if anyone has any ideas) but is that all that connects it to the bike ? I’ve also got the hard black plastic bits that looks like they go round the forks. But there is no hardware at all to connect anything to the bike.

Anyone got any drawings or photos that can show me how to fit it all together ?  I’m so excited I just want to get it done !!!

Thanks
Sean

Here is a diagram. Maybe it will help, maybe not. Looks pretty complicated.
If you can't fix it with a hammer it's an electrical problem.

Hello,
As far as I know, the metal plate holding the instruments and the key switch is different. A long time ago, searching a "new" one to replace my rusted plain R65 one, I was delivered an LS one. It did not fit.
So I bet your LS has the plain R65 support plate instead of the LS one.
