This afternoon I set out to give the 860's carbs a question co clean. The last time I rode it the idle circuits were non functional.
So...
Pull the carbs off drop all the jets out and clean all in an ultrasonic bath.
No problems.
I had a carb in my hands, having removed the idle mixture screw, the emulsion tube, main jet and needle valve.
Now the mixture chamber is the uppermost item in the main jet stack, it is retained in the car body by a very light interference, the needle valve fits inside the chamber and when the items have been in service a while the crud glues them together until the ultrasonic bath does its thing
It was dark in my workshop due to overcast conditions. Instead of walking 25 metres to turn the lights on I instead walked 5 metres onto the gravel path next to the garden.
I then confidently put my finger over the main jet hole and used the end of a screwdriver to bear down on the mixture chamber.
It popped out easily and about then I realised my finger was over the wrong hole.
One hour of searching the gravel failed to locate the chamber and needle valve.
$67 later new ones are ordered and the courier will deliver them tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I am about to sulk into a beer or 4.
