I believe it should be a 35mm but put the frame number in the realoem website and it should give you the spec

There are several makes of exhaust and the price varies greatly.

What you have to do is to work out is whether you want chrome or stainless steel.  The next is how much you are willing to pay.

Stainless is generally more expensive, but once bought should last the life of the bike.

I would search this site as this has been discussed recently - i.e. before Christmas.

I have recently put a cheap set of silencers on my R100 at £50 a side.  They are chrome plated, generic, reverse cone megga's and needed a little 'fettling' to fit.  They were supplied by Armours in the UK.  They also do chrome and stainless standard systems.

I would not consider OEM at all.

You can pay up to £500 for a high quality stainless steel full system from a certain well respected manufacturer......

These are probably the least expensive (if you live in the USA, anyways), if you want a 2-into-1 system.    I ordered some from them, but with my wife's list of house-improvement projects I haven't gotten round to trying to fit them yet.   They are a bit slow in their delivery, too.

As the others have said, if you want a "classic" look, their are some stainless steel models that will likely last your lifetime, though they are pricier.
One of the more common stainless models I've seen are those from Epco (epcostainless.com)

I haven't measured them lately, but I do believe that the R45/R65 header diameter is 35mm, or maybe it is 38mm and the R80/R100 is 40mm?  In any case, they ARE
smaller diameter (and since the cylinders are shorter, the exhaust ports are closer together) on the R45/65 than the R80/100.
