R65 Mates R100 harness

I'm building a R65 cafe racer for parts. Only the eng. and frame are from a R65. Would a R100 wiring harness with relays work ? I can't think of any resin it would not.

IF they are of similar vintage (e.g. R65 and R100 both either 79/80 models, or both 81-84 models) you have the best chance.   The wiring harnesses are still a bit different, color code-wise, so you'd have to pay attention when looking at a Haynes manual or consulting with other R65ers for wiring harness info.   But at least the similar vintage units have the similar types of switches, fuse block, relays, etc. so should be compatible, if not identical.   If the bikes are of different vintage, it becomes much more of a "custom" deal, as color codes, grounds, switches, etc changed over the years.

I suppose it would depend if all of the relays and other gizmos were coming over with the harness.  If so, and the donor is similar (dual or mono shock, point or electronic ignition, etc) then it shouldn't be a real big deal.  But, if it is a completely custom bike I would be very tempted to fab up a custom simplified harness...

Remember with an R100 all your fuses are in the headlamp - this is not the case with the R65.

The two looms are quite different.

I see no reason why it wont work as long you take into account for things like:

If the loom is an electronic ignition loom and you are using electronic ignition on your motor, etc.

I.e. similarly aged and spec'd machines, as mentioned above.

I also hope you loom has all the useful bits with it.

The alternative is to use the loom as spares and wire up the r65 yourself.

Good luck

Always a good idea to let us know what year you are working on if you haven't already indicated it in your info area.
