Winter ride
« on: February 02, 2017, 03:44:25 PM »
With the temperature here on the coast in South Texas  hanging around 70, give or take, and the clouds not peeing on the parade, it seems like a good time to go for a weekend visit with youngest college senior daughter up the road in College Station. Haven't taken a road trip since the 1st weekend in November and with the old BMW panniers and top box cleaned up, re-sealed, strapped and mounted, its a good excuse to "road test" them. This will be about 600 miles over 2 days with a rest day in-between.
Ill take some picts. along the way and post them on my return.
In another month or so when the wild flowers (Blue Bonnets) start to bloom I hope to repeat this ride to their sweet smell.

Ok, had a wonderful visit with my baby girl with some much needed daughter/daddy time.
The ride up Friday started off descent at 64drg F but within 2 hours it was cold, maybe not for some of you folks in the northern climes but even layered up with warm clothing, 52drg F  at 70mph is COLD Especially for 4 more hours. Something about the Wind Chill!

Coming home yesterday was not cold at all, hovering around 65drg F to start and warming up to 76drg F as I got closer to home. But it was WET, as in drizzling rain for 100 miles then a  shower or two for the next 50 miles, then back to heavy mist until 75 miles from home.
Not my most favorite riding conditions but the old girl just kept going. Stable and relatively comfortable.
I have never been on any motorcycle that perform as this one does. It almost feels like it was made for my size, weight, leg length and arms.
I love it!
So GET OUT THERE and RIDE!!!!! ;)

Billmc,

I hear you re daddy/daughter time, I love spending time with my baby girl and she loves bikes!

We are still around the 3-5 deg (38 -41 F), I rode for about 3.5 hrs on Friday, dry, sunny but cold, still the gear I wear ensured I was nice and warm.

Enjoy your lovely weather!
