BMWNEF Winter Rally
« on: January 15, 2015, 03:09:43 PM »
Heading out in the morning for the BMW NE FL Winter Rally. Looks to be a "cool" one this year. It has been raining most of the week but the forecast is it will stop about midnight and clear up. The weather behind the passing weather front is supposed to be highs of mid 50's and night lows of low 30's. Just have to find a tent site out of the wind.

It's nice having a hack this year. Instead of paring down to the essentials that will fit in saddle bags I can just pack it all in the hack and have some creature comforts. The camp sites have electric service so I have a small space heater and a 100' extension cord for a toasty tent.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

Exercise caution when running those small heaters on an extension cord either at home or elsewhere. The Moore Supply Company here in our vil, a state-wide plumbing supply provider, suffered a $2.5 million dollar loss this week when an employee left a space heater running on an el cheapo extension cord. Total loss of their operation. Fire Marshall stated the ext cord was the culprit.

Doubt you'll burn down your tent but I see a lot of these heaters in garages where bike owners are trying to keep warm.
