I actually think I am going to shift my travels to The Gathering of The Clans instead of the RA Rally. Not a fan of huge crowds and I like the High Country Motorcycle Camp.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

I've been having the same thoughts, although The Gathering weekend includes Father's Day, and I would like to be here for the old man.
Decisions, decisions... :-/

Graham and I will definitely be at the RA Rally in Asheville.  We'll be working the MotoMark1 booth, so that will be a great meet-up spot if we want to try to get folks together.

We won't be camping, though.  I'm hoping we'll have some time to do a little socializing along with the work.   ;)

Sue, have you decided on your plans yet?

Hey Y'all, I am hoping that me and Brother Jim can Gather with the Clans and then partake of the parkway to visit some of our favorite places until it is time to show up at the Biltmore.  That was crazy to see myself in that old picture. I wore that blue shirt yesterday. Looking forward to seeing Y'all if nothing don't happen.

Unfortunately, it seems I won't be making it to the RA rally in Asheville as I had originally planned.

I ended up being away from home longer than expected last week and weekend for my nephew's graduation from Parris Island MCRD (and for which we are all VERY PROUD of him).  My wife tends to become nervous when I am away for more than a day or two, and I think that last week used up my allocation for the month.  And my wife's freaking out about some other family issues we have to deal with later this month.   On top of that, my R65LS has blownout fork seals and needs new tires (I'm working on this now) and my R100/7 needs its m/c replaced and some work done on the fuel tank (which I am also about to start dealing with).   So, at the moment, neither airhead is ridable.  I still have the Kawasaki, but I've got to work on getting bikes back together in the garage again.  I think the next week or two are going to be more "stay at home".

I do hope to get out to some other regional rides/rallies this summer, though.

I hope that everyone headed to Asheville has a great time!

I'm not heading to the RA either. Just not in the mood for a long haul. Was away last weekend at out vintage bike National Rally. LRB is running fine whith his newly lubed spline. Still haven't done the rear bearing but will get 'er done. Up in the air really about Salem...a lot of money involved and hard on bike and little me if too hot. Could be done but I am growing into a chicken! I am going to ride around the Great Lakes I think and as I fly by Duluth, MN and go to the Aerostich warehouse, I'll see if I feel like continuing west to the BMW National. Sometimes being on the bike is good therapy for whatever ails ya!

Sorry to miss you at the RA. Have fun!!
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

Was that you on the blue R65, riding with a friend on an oilhead, that I  followed behind down 421, until the road splits toward Winston or Greensboro? I saw several R65s at the Gathering, but never their owners around, and I didn't leave notes on any of the bikes because we had no cell service! I did get to spend some time with friends Sara Kate and her dad Gary, she on her flawless 1980 R65, he on his R100R sidecar rig. She's the coolest 19 year old college student around, putting campus on her R65 8-) . Gary was crowned as the new Air Marshall for SC too. And, the very coolest of all, Sara and her dad are riding next month, in July, all the way from SC to Oregon for the National BMW MOA Rally, taking 4 weeks to travel and also visit some friends on the west coast! That'll be quite a ride and memory for her, and a helluva cruise on the R65! [smiley=clap.gif]

Attendance at the Gathering was larger than usual, with some folks riding in and planning to stay around the few days between this rally and the national RA rally in Asheville. A very great time was had! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I wish it was. That was a beautiful monolever R65. I spoke to the woman riding it and was impressed with how nice it looked. I also spoke to Sara Kate and her father. She is an interesting young lady and I agree that her 1980 R65 is flawless.

I was on my white cafe'd R65LS, camped in the trees right next to the stream. No problems falling to sleep listening to that sound.

Well, turns out we're not going to make the RA Rally after all.  Sorry to miss anyone that is going.   :'(  Didn't make the Gathering either.

Mark didn't need us to run the booth and I have a wedding gig this Friday.  Maybe one of these days we'll get another gathering of R65ers together like we did in 2008.  There's some folks I'd love to meet!

Steve,

Wish I could, but I've got commitments at church on Saturday and Sunday.  We gotta get our plans better coordinated if I'm ever gonna see this non-existent R65 you own.    :P

Ditto to what Mike said!!  Pictures please.   ;D

Shoulda been at Wills! There was a large yet well behaved crowd, and Will's sister and hubby were there, out from Seattle. His Mom spent the weekend too, celebrating her 95th birthday on Friday. June 21st! Sharp as a tack too, it's amazing.

I've been having technical difficulties with my camera and don't want to buy another one yet; this retiree income ain't that great! But, I was able to download a few pics that I posted to SCJJ on Facebook. Let me see if I can get 'em posted here, so you'll stop accusing me of lying...  ;D

Just can't figure out how to resize them though, I hate the new Photobucket

edit: Got the resizing worked out, almost, close enough anyway, still hate the new Photobucket. Really need to research moving all my pics to another site... :P
