Brake hose

for a 1983 r65 manufactured in 9/82 I'm trying to locate the front brake hose part#34321242882 as listed in real OEM http://tinyurl.com/3hml6q
I'm finding that this part is NLA. This is the single hose from the caliper pipe to the master with no attachment in between. Was there a par# change? does anyone know who may have this? I've exhausted the usual parts links. Any help much appreciated.

A and S has the same diagram but lists the part as # 34 32 1 242 761 but shorter than the 800mm indicated in your diagram.
Measure your brake hose to see which is right for you. then I would recommend a braided SS hose of the same length - you will get a better feel and more responsive brakes. Just a suggestion.

[size=12]If there is any question, whether flexable or steel, you can probably have something made up where you live.  That way you are assured of a good fit.  Find someone reputable.  

I am not familiar with the later brake system.  Matt at Boxerworks had what I needed for my '79, no problem.  [/size]

I run the low Euro bars. I chose the rubber hose and have been very satisfied with it. Let me check my records and I'll post back / modify this response with the CapBMW part number. May be Saturday before I can do this...

SATURDAY... I'm back with the brake hose part number.

My receipt from Capital BMW shows part number 34 32 1 23 4 699.  This is the hose pictured in the RealOEM image as item #14 and ties into the hard pipe item #1.

My last contact with Capital left a sour impression with me as a fellow named Tony was most obnoxious; telling me I didn't know what I was talking about. Wrong parts were shipped and billed to me. Final corrected order had, guess what, the exact part number I gave the phone order taker, Tony.

If you reach this individual, be firm with him and be prepared to be continually interrupted. YMMV.

I'll have a go with the part # Monte supplied but if there is too much drama involved I'll search out a local fabricator for the hose. This is really one of the few parts I've had difficulty finding right away.

I had such a hose made up for my '83 at the local hydraulic supply house.  I took the old one in and had them match it up, but I did specify the iron braid hose.  It doesn't look stock, but probably more robust.  Cost, about $38.  If I could find one, and the price wasn't out of sight, I may be tempted to go back to the original "look".

The search continues. The longest brake hose I can find available from a BMW supplier is 27" long. This bad boy is a full 32" or for those of you living in more advanced countries 80cm. The bike has the US spec bars so that probably is the difference. I found a place that can make them up http://www.magillsquality.com/quality.htm but would still prefer the OEM.

You DO have the splitter, #9 in the picture?

And these are the LOWER hoses you are looking for,  from the splitter to the caliper, correct?

If so, IT SHOULD MAKE NO DIFFERENCE WHAT YOUR BAR HEIGHT IS.

That is always compensated for by item #11, the hose that connects the master cylinder to the splitter.

Na, no splitter, block or any other fitment between the master cylinder and the caliper pipe. see #14 on that exploded diagram. The Hose is a full 800mm / 80cm / 32 inches long. Strange but true. Has me grumblin' a bit but it is what it is. So much for a quick fix. anyone else have this lengthy line with no connecting block on their r65?

If there is no junction block, then the hose(s) should terminate in a banjo fitting at the top.  #14 has a threaded fitting to go into the female threads on the block.

I suppose it is possible to take a threaded hose directly from the master cylinder, but, other than the formed metal tube going to the splitter, I have not seen them attached that way.  Usually with a banjo.

Get the best one that they can make.  I'll bet they will even cover it in black rubber if you like!  To make it look OEM.

OEM is OK, and is what I bought when I replaced mine, but if there was the slightest hitch, I wouldn't have hesitated to go custom.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting this message, but here's a photo of my '81 OEM front brake hose. No banjo fitting at the MC - threaded hose end screws directly into the MC assembly.

Took a bit of effort to convince some folks but I got 'er done. My '83 has the same setup.
