Winter trips in Central Am

So here in the northeast a hella winter was on us all in fact a big snow one..  Falling into luck somehow I planned an expanded 5 mo escape to my normal 2 weeker destination, costa rica.
Well I am on CL shopping for an MC and in panama a guy from texas is selling a 2001 rs, so I am all into it and trying to get it on for several weeks in oct/nov. I had yet to travel the highways and byways of noriegas former haunt yet had full intentions to do so.
The Texas guy was amiable and his machine was a reasonable 3500 us (they use the buck in panama) pics sent and details being ironed out my table was set I thought. I had been 3 mos in costa rica 09/10 winter bought a chineese 150cc scooter and wandered the hills of coffee country and some incredible short trips outside the central valley. Selling it after 2.5 mos was not a problem and I only lost 200 on a 900 price paid. This means a good prospect on notching up a few bars to this texas beemer.  My 1982 r65 here in new england has its roots there so karma was good.  Boom!! though, just then problems amassed. He was well off the beaten path way off from david or conception, so I thought at the time anyway. Turned out I ended up in the same town put a bid on a slice of land there, funny how things go ey. Anyway a few red flags began to give me pause.. but I was not giving up. He then advised me he was all up and heading home to the states before I could get there, wah! I was bummed.  So I set up another cl deal once in costa rica and bought a 2009 chin 200 street bike from some dentist, it was a knock off of a honda motor so ran extremely well but mucho issues with adjunct oem equipment. I know it is a beemer story in its roots only but I had a great experience riding all over  and hammered 5k miles from sea to sea into panama over the talamaca which went 9k feet! dusty roads in deserts that were 125 degrees and beaches and cities and hills and valleys. Unbelievable tripo friends. Just had to share! next time I will find a beemer as I saw plenty on my travels there, peace out. [smiley=bmw_smiley.gif]

lol monte, er tex.. should I say. I just heard back from richard who is back in chiriqi province near the CR border yesterday, he sold the RS and is in a great place on the planet. That bike would have been a reason to head down to chile to visit some chics I once met!   :D
