HEAD ON MOTORCYCLE CRUSH
« on: November 13, 2010, 12:31:12 AM »
This is not the kind of post I wished to put up, but I just got involved in a head on crush with another motorcycle on a beautiful California day.

The beloved smile giving and symbol of accomplishement R65 LS I took Super CARE of has collided against A Kawa ZX 1000 on a twisty section of Calaveras Road at 2.15 pm by a guy who invaded my lane from the opposite direction.

There was no time to react, all I remember is seeing the helmet of the guy meeting mine, I blanked out for a short while, I just wanted to close my eyes to whatever was coming at me.

I just hope I can bring her back once again to her former glory and sense of satisfaction I derived from.

I'm afraid the Insurance company are gonna play their games and not refund me for the damages I will be incurring, nor I want the bike to be totaled as I will miss her too much.

I'll have about six weeks of prognosis to heal a fractured left foot ,  not so sure about the bike?

I don't feel any sentiment for the guy that invaded my lane giving me this beutiful Christmas present, I just want my bike the way it was before.

Will post some pictures in the next coming days.

Be careful out there and have a safe ride wherever  :'(yur heart might bring you.

Domenico,
San Jose, CA

Man, that sucks BIG TIME, Dom.  I am so sorry for your loss.

Were you up along the reservoir?  Nice road.  Unfortunately it is is probably populated with dumbass squids.

No, I've never been there, but I know how to use Google Maps.

I'm glad you didn't have more parts hurt, and I hope your foot heals completely.  This is 'merica.  Sue the pants off the guy!  [smiley=angry.gif]

I agree with you, hopefully HE will be out of motorcycling for good!

The Guy was passing a byciclist in a blind turn, invaded my lane and 'The rest was history'.

My only hope is recup the money needed to fix up my bike, the guy as they say: was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I would have never expected this kind of collision would had happened in my riding experience, and surely left a mark on my riding luggage.

I'm thankful that I was riding with another Airhead from San Jose, who assisted me in any way he could, who had the misfortune to witness the accident right behind me.

Suck is Life!

Dom,

Happy to hear you're relatively unhurt. Could have been much worse. This type of incident is the type that always concerns me the most while on the road...the kind that is totally out of our personal control.  Hope your recovery is quick and with as little pain as possible. Sorry to hear about the bike also, we're hurting with you on this one. It's not fair when we have to pay for someone elses careless mistakes and poor judgement.

Get well soon.

This is just horrible.....please accept my sympathies and concentrate on getting well..as well as angry I guess! We all will be there to help fix the LS! If our thoughts could make you well instantly, you have that too!

We do cry for our bikes because we love them...I know they are just machinery but...there is a lot of usenergy and care, in our bikes.

That's a coincidence...a Kawasaki ZX1000 was the model bike that almost took out LRB during his maiden summer on a "parade" lap at the Mosport racetrack!!! Ran right into the back fender but luckily only kissed it lightly...he fell down and the bike caught fire having skidded off the track on it's side in a shower of sparks. Squid bike in inexperienced hands.  I would have been ready to kill if there was damage!!! More wishes your way, Domenico!

I thought I'd share some of the bikes damages occured in the collision.

No violence content.

Kawa was coming downhill 3' from the opposite lane where I just happened to be coming uphill.

pic#1443 you can see the Kawa skidmarks where I Just happened to be hit.

Wow!  I am glad that you are not more seriously injured than you are - that looks like it could have easily been much much worse!

It always amazes me how stupid some people can be, moving into oncoming lanes on blind corners, etc.   At least it looks like the little R65 gave as good as she got from the big ol Kawasaki.   I am sure that with patience you'll get the LS back into her former glory!

Take it easy and heal up!

That's just crazy.  I hope you (and the bike) recover soon, and am glad it wasn't even worse.

I thought it was only Bali where bikes crashed into each other. Anyway, how could you trust anyone who rides a bike that is metallic orange!

Glad to hear the hurt is not too great.
